SOLD OUT – What a great message.

We have been talking a lot about the interaction of inventory and holiday sales this season. Today I received a newsletter from Liberty Skis with a great subject line – “Liberty Skis are SOLD OUT!

Liberty_SOLD_OUT

Of course I had to open the message – why would someone be telling me that they are sold out?  Reading the email (above), you quickly realize that product may still be in stores, but may not be available in all locations. Liberty follows this up with a description of why they are sold out, namely, because their products have received so many accolades and awards.

This is the first message I have seen about inventory shortages this season, but I expect it to be followed by many more. Catch them while you can. Selling like hotcakes! What a great way to generate interest around your products and give urgency to those who are sitting on the fence. Get ‘em now before they’re gone!

If I wasn’t a knuckle-dragger (my favorite term for a snowboarder), I might just have had to get me some of those hot Liberty Skis for myself.

This is awesome. We used to carry Liberty Skis at my old shop, and they are incredible. Plus my boss said that they gave us the biggest dealer margin in the business. We even fulfilled some Shopatron orders for Liberty. I’m not surprised that they’re sold out – I’m just annoyed that my shop didn’t buy them in time!
